What is Lumecca?
Lumecca is the most powerful Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) to treat pigmentation and vascular lesions. What areas can be treated?
Lumecca can be used on most areas of the face, avoiding the inner orbital rim. The most common zones for treatment is cheeks and nose which are areas exposed to the sun more frequently.
What steps must be taken before the procedure?
A full consultation is under taken to check any medication, medical conditions which may contraindicate your treatment. You must also have no visible evidence of exposure to sun, sunbeds or artificial tans within the past month.
What should I expect during and after Lumecca?
During treatment a thin layer of ultrasound gel will be applied to the target area. You will have black out goggles on throughout the treatment but you will still witness a bright flash from the light and a short sharp warmth to the target area.
Redness and warming will subside within the hour. Over the next 24-48 hours you may see a darkening of pigmented spots and a blanching of vessels. This may dissipate in a few days after leaving a clearing of the target.
How many sessions are required?
An improved skin appearance can be noted after the first session, multiple sessions provide even greater results. Regime depends on the severity of damage and skin type.
Are there any side effects?
Most patients do not experience side effects and a small patch test of the target area is to be completed 1 week prior to full treatment. Full aftercare to avoid heat and direct sunlight is given and if any scabs, blisters or swelling occurs please contact the clinic and schedule a review as soon as you can. Keep all areas clean and dry and protected from the sun.
